Ali Deem, LPC, NCC
Director of Adult Services

Ali Deem earned her BA in psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan College and her MA in clinical Mental Health Counseling from West Virginia University. She served as Director of Counseling Services for students at West Virginia Wesleyan College and worked with students who struggled with substance use disorders and eating disorders at West Virginia University’s Collegiate Recovery.

Ali serves as the Director of Adult Services and is active in various leadership roles throughout Esperanza. She advocates for quality of care, collaborates effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, and embodies a spirit of lifelong learning and professional humility which all make her an asset to our team. Ali practices through a trauma-informed lens using an individualized approach suited for each patient. She utilizes tenets from several approaches including DBT, CBT, ACT, and IFS in her work with patients. Ali is skilled in the treatment of co-occurring diagnoses including substance-use, alcohol, mood, and personality disorders.

Ali finds her position at Esperanza most rewarding when a patient finds recovery and can discharge after completing the program. She finds beauty in the small victories that lead to full recovery, like seeing a patient complete 100% of a meal for the first time or using a skill instead of a behavior to get through a stressful time. She is intentional in nurturing a safe and supportive environment for every individual in her care.
