Kira Lawrence, MFT Intern
At Esperanza, Kira works with individuals experiencing eating disorders as well as a variety of co-occurring mental health concerns. She enjoys helping clients understand how factors such as trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, family dynamics, identity, and other life experiences may intersect with their relationship with food and their overall mental health.
Kira earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is currently completing her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University, with a specialization in trauma. Before beginning her clinical training, she spent three years working within Child Protective Services, where she gained extensive experience in casework and supporting children and families from diverse backgrounds.
In her clinical work, Kira incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Her style is warm, collaborative, and strengths based.
Kira is passionate about walking alongside adolescents, adults, and families as they heal their relationships with food, their bodies, and themselves. She believes each person’s recovery looks different and values meeting clients exactly where they are.
