Dr. Morgan Negaard is a board-certified Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the states of Texas and Washington.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Abilene Christian University in 2012. During nursing school she completed a nursing student internship at the Mayo Clinic’s Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Unit and began her career as a Registered Nurse in the Critical Care Unit at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene, Texas. In 2014 she earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Washington and subsequently attained board certification as a PMHNP. During her graduate studies, she worked with Seattle Children’s Hospital’s Gender Clinic to conduct qualitative research. The results of this work were published in the April 2019 edition of the journal Transgender Health.

She has extensive experience providing care for adolescents and adults with eating disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions including OCD, PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders. After completing her DNP in March 2017, Dr. Negaard began her work as a PMHNP at The Emily Program in Seattle, Washington. She provided collaborative psychiatric care for individuals struggling with eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in the Residential, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy programs. During this time, she also pursued intensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy under Dr. Charles Swenson and was a member of The Emily Program’s DBT Team.

Dr. Negaard relocated to San Antonio to be closer to family. She is excited to be able to serve the our community as part of Esperanza’s team of knowledgeable and compassionate eating disorder experts. Morgan believes in a collaborative and holistic approach to mental health care. Her goal is to provide individualized treatment for each patient utilizing the guiding principles of evidence-based practice and patient-driven care. She considers it a gift to be able to witness and support the healing and growth of her patients.
