Rebecca is an adolescent therapist and works in the Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs at Esperanza Eating Disorders Center, where she provides individualized, evidence-based care to support adolescents in their recovery journeys.
She attended The University of the Incarnate Word, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice, with a minor in Sociology. She went on to earn her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio, gaining diverse clinical experience through internships in inpatient, PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings.
During her training, Rebecca worked with children and adolescents at Clarity Child Guidance Center, supporting clients in both inpatient and outpatient programs. She also provided individual therapy to young adults at UIW Behavioral Health Services, addressing a range of mental health concerns. Her final internship at Esperanza Eating Disorders Center solidified her passion for working with adolescents struggling with eating disorders, leading to her transition into a full-time role following graduation. She has now been in her position, walking alongside adolescents and their families as they navigate the challenges of recovery. Rebecca has experience in treating co-morbid conditions such as depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and self-harm.
Rebecca incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) in her work. She believes in meeting adolescents where they are, fostering self-compassion, and helping them develop the skills necessary for lasting change. With a warm and collaborative style, she strives to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered on their path toward healing their relationship with food and their bodies.
