Emily Prentice, LCSW, is a therapist dedicated to helping people heal their relationships with food, body, and self. She specializes in treating adults and adolescents with eating disorders and related concerns using evidence-based treatment in our PHP/IOP settings.
At Esperanza Eating Disorders Center, she serves as the Director of Adult Services, the leader of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and supports patients and their families through individual and group therapy. Emily also gained valuable experience leading groups and working with clients as a mental health counselor at a residential eating disorder facility, Walden Behavioral Care.
Emily integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Temperament-Based Therapy with Support (TBT-S) to empower clients in creating individualized recoveries integrating their traits as strengths and using their values as a compass to build a meaningful life. Emily has been trained and certified in TBT-S levels one, two, and three is currently undergoing her certification in the final level of TBT-S training, all under the mentorship of Dr. Laura Hill. Emily has also completed training in Family-Based Treatment and advanced training in ACT for treating anxiety and depression.
As a social worker, Emily considers the systemic drivers that cause and sustain disordered eating, including anti-fat bias, weight stigma, racism, transphobia, and homophobia. Emily utilizes a strengths-based, person-in-environment approach to support each client’s unique path to leading a more aligned and fulfilling life.
