Tina offers specialized eating disorder therapy for individuals, couples, and families at both the PHP and IOP levels of care at Esperanza and she co-leads the TBT-S support group for supporters.
Tina has been a licensed professional counselor recognized by the State of Texas Board of Examiners since 2006, bringing over 25 years of experience to her practice. Her journey began with a master’s degree in counseling from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, following her initial studies in the field at Arizona State University in 1992. Additionally, Tina holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio.
In addition to her specialization in eating disorders, Tina has recently completed advanced training in Temperament-Based Therapy (TBT-S) at Levels 1, 2, and 3, under the mentorship of Dr. Laura Hill. This training has further refined her ability to customize therapeutic interventions according to the unique temperamental needs of each client, facilitating deeper insights and more sustainable progress. She was honored to be selected for a prestigious training program at Stanford University, specializing in Family-Based Therapy (FBT) for adolescents and young adults with eating disorders.
This experience, combined with ongoing education, has equipped her with profound insights into the complexities of eating disorders and the nuanced therapeutic approaches necessary for effective treatment.
