Uzuri McMillon (Mother Earth)
Therapeutic Gardener

Patients plant, nurture and enjoy the beauty they help to create in the garden under the guidance of Uzuri McMillon, affectionately known as Mother Earth. They also enjoy herbs from the garden in some of the meals they prepare at Esperanza. Mother Earth has taught connecting with nature hands-on exhibits at children’s shelters, hospitals, schools and Earth Day events. After having created many wildlife habitats and landscape gardens, she accepted a position as a therapeutic gardener at an eating disorder center in 2015. At present, she teaches “Connecting with Nature” classes at eating disorder centers, a special needs school and at a center for abused women.

Mother Earth believes that nature is healing and reminds us we are connected to all-that-is.
